Jackery was founded in 2012 by former Apple battery engineer, Z. Sun. With his company, he focuses on providing outdoor power solutions for explorers and outdoor enthusiasts. Jackery launched the world’s first lithium portable power station in 2015 and released solar panels, the SolarSaga series, in 2018. In 2020, the company released the Solar Generator series. This makes Jackery’s Portable Power Station even better to combine with Solar Panels. In this way, the company contributes to the energy transition.

What is a Jackery portable power station?

Jackery portable power stations – also known as a power generator or portable power station, rechargeable power generators are equipped with a 230V inverter that runs on batteries. Equipped with an AC socket, DC carport and USB charging ports, they can charge all your equipment. From smartphones and laptops, to household appliances, such as coolers and an electric grill. With models ranging from 160 to 3024Wh, Jackery provides a variety of power stations.

This is how a Jackery portable power station works

A battery is the heart of every Jackery power station. This battery stores a huge amount of energy in a compact and lightweight body. With this energy you can then use and charge all your electronic devices.

A Jackery power station cannot power your electronic devices indefinitely, as the battery will also need to be charged at some point. For that you can use solar panels, an AC charger or your car’s 12-volt charger. The charging time varies depending on the type, but by using batteries, the charging time is relatively short.

As an example, we take the Jackery 1000 Plus. When you charge it through a car port, it takes between 5 and 16 hours, depending on the output. With a 100 watt solar panel, you can fully charge the Explorer 500 within 9.5 hours. While recharging, you can simply use the Jackery to power other devices.

What devices can you use with a Jackery portable power station?

Depending on the size of the device, you can use quite a bit of power-hungry electronics. All Jackery models can charge phones and laptops. However, if you want to use larger appliances, such as a coffee maker or a pressure cooker, you’ll need one of the larger models.

As an example, we compare the Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus and the Jackery Explorer 240. The Explorer 1000 Plus can charge a phone (iPhone 8) 100 times, while the Explorer 240 can ‘only’ do this 24 times. The Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus is also suitable for larger appliances, such as a mini fridge, blender or electric grill (appliances up to 2000W).

Other devices that you can use with a Jackery portable power station are, for example: charging a drone, electric blanket, fan, camera, lamp and a kettle.

Can I use a third-party solar panel to charge my Jackery power station?

Jackery power stations can be charged with a solar panel from another brand, provided that the plug size and input voltage match that of the Jackery power station. For example, for the Explorer 1000, the voltage should be between 12-30V and the plug size should be 7.9 mm outside diameter, 5.5 mm inside diameter and 0.9 mm inside needle diameter. However, it is strongly recommended to use the matching Jackery SolarSaga solar panels for optimal safety and quality.

How long can I use my Jackery portable power station to power my devices?

First of all, you need to check the power of your device (measured in watts). If this is less than the power output of your Explorer’s AC port, the device may be supported by the Explorer. For example, the Jackery power station Explorer 500 can power AC devices at 230V that require less than 500W.

You can then calculate the usage time using the following formula:

Working time = Watt-hours of the Explorer * 0.85 / power of your device.

Example: If your device’s power consumption is 60W (for example, a box fan) and you want to use the Explorer 500 to power your device, the calculation would be as follows:

500Wh * 0.85 / 60W = approximately 7 hours of use time

Please note: Actual power consumption will vary based on several factors.

How do I fix the problem of car charger port not being able to be used?

The cause of the problem could be external electrical problems, connection problems, or internal circuit problems. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

1. Check the power display: Press the display button to check the remaining power. Turn on the car charger, the green indicator should light up, and the screen should show the power consumption.
2. Check the power of the device: Make sure the device is within the power range of the cigarette lighter (12V/10A/120W). Overload protection may occur if this power is exceeded.

If there are no problems, there may be an internal failure. Contact customer service for repair.
